Palliative Care Week was held from 21st to 27th May 2023.
During this week we celebrated and showed support for the incredible work of palliative care nurses, doctors, allied health workers, carers and volunteers across NSW.
These compassionate professionals dedicate themselves to providing comfort, relief, and support to patients and their families during some of life’s most challenging moments. They are the people at the heart of palliative care.
Our role is a voluntary organisation who provides support and caring to those within our local communities who are experiencing this difficult time as well as providing support to the health professionals who care for them.
Each year during Palliative care week we celebrate with our Annual Remembrance Service held at the Community of Christ Church, Manning St Tuncurry. This year we were again supported by the Green Cathedral Choir and that was indeed a blessing in itself. We are given the opportunity to light a candle in remembrance of someone special to us that has died as well as acknowledge the care and support provided by the local Palliative Care services as well as acknowledging all care givers whether that care be given at home, in hospital or Aged Care facility.
To finish off the week we had our annual Trivia Night which was well supported and a successful, fun night. Theme was rainbow colours and folk dressed up to get into the swing of the things. Our night was hosted by Quizmaster Roger Duggan and well supported by members, friends and general public. Thanks to the Bridge Club for allowing us to use their premises.
